Iraqi e-Govt Collections Reach $642m

Rafidain Bank reported strong growth in digital payment activity in January 2026, recording more than IQD 841 billion — about $641.98 million — in electronic collection settlements on behalf of government entities.

According to the bank, a total of 73,226 electronic settlements were processed during the month. The figures show steady progress in the adoption of digital collection services across public institutions.

Rafidain also highlighted a sharp rise in the number of government entities using the electronic collection system. In January 2026, 2,544 government entities were activated on the platform, compared to 1,808 entities in January 2025.

The bank said these results reflect ongoing efforts by the government to advance digital transformation programs and improve the efficiency and transparency of public revenue collection.

The latest data suggests that Iraq’s push toward modernizing financial systems and reducing reliance on manual processes is gaining momentum, particularly within state institutions.
