The Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Sunday (October 26, 2025) the results of Central University Admissions for the 2025–2026 academic year, marking a historic expansion in student intake.
According to Undersecretary Haidar Abdul Dhid, this year’s acceptance plan is larger than the total number of high school graduates — a first in years. Out of more than 220,000 graduates, 2,954 students scored a perfect 100%, while 15,441 students achieved between 95% and 100%.
The Ministry credited the increase to the establishment of new universities and upgrades to existing institutions. Admissions were processed through 26 channels, including the General Admission, Martyrs Channel, and Direct Admission pathways. A key reform introduced this year allows top students from schools of excellence to compete through a special 15% quota channel, alongside the general system.
Dhid emphasized that the admissions process is supported by the Ministry’s digital transformation initiative, led by Minister Naim Al-Aboudi under the supervision of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. The digital project includes 127 integrated systems aimed at modernizing and streamlining university administration and admissions.
