The US Energy Information Administration announced on Tuesday that Iraq exported approximately 46 million barrels of oil to the United States in the first third of 2023.
According to a table released by the administration and reported by the insider, Iraq exported 45.998 million barrels of crude oil and its products to the US between January and April 2023. This represents a 37% increase from the same period in 2022, during which the US received 29.029 million barrels, which was a 65% YoY increase from the 16.112 million barrels received in the same timeframe in 2021.
“The highest rate of oil exports to America during the first third of the year 2023 was in February, when it amounted to 12.168 million barrels, while the lowest rate of oil exports was for the month of April, when it amounted to 10.942 million barrels,” she said.
I was told that the year 2018 had the highest rate of exports for the first third in the past ten years. According to her, the exports amounted to 86.317 million barrels during that period.
Iraq is one of the top ten countries that export oil to the United States, contributing nearly 10% of its total oil import alongside Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
