Large Fire at a Basra Power Station and A Complete Electricity Shutdown

On Saturday, a fire occurred at a power station located in Basra governorate, resulting in power disruptions. This incident happened at the same time as a technical issue that caused multiple regions in Iraq to lose power.

Reports indicate that a fire erupted at the al-Bakr secondary station located in Basra. This resulted in the collapse of loads in the southern regions along with damage to the power line connecting the central and southern governorates.

Today, Shafaq News Agency was told by a source that the electrical system collapsed due to a technical defect in the Wasit 400 line. This line connects the central and southern governorates. The source also mentioned that maintenance teams have been alerted to find and fix the faults, so that electricity can be restored to all areas.

However, the Ministry of Electricity in Iraq has not made any official statement regarding the power outage incident.
