Haider Al-Lami, a member of the State of Law Coalition, said today, Monday, that Iraq no longer needs any combat forces in the country. However, he also said that achieving full sovereignty requires national unity.
Al-Lami stated in a statement to that the “issue of military forces remaining in the country is a joke” and that “America has acknowledged Iraq’s ability to protect its lands and that it does not need foreign forces.”
“The issue of the American presence in Iraq is supposed to lead to solutions as a result of the procrastination method that it is pursuing,” he added, pointing out that “achieving full sovereignty for the country can be achieved by removing these forces, and this issue also requires the existence of national unity.”
“Popular rejection of the practices carried out by American forces in the country, whether in the past or currently” was what he said.
After the numerous violations they committed in Iraq, the current government’s decision to establish joint committees to work on removing American troops is noteworthy.
