Iraqi Prime Minister Meets Swiss and Swedish Ambassadors to Boost Energy Cooperation
Baghdad — Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani met on Wednesday in Baghdad with the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hunn, and the Swedish Ambassador, Jörgen Lindström, alongside senior representatives from Linxon, including the company’s Executive Director and Head for Asia and the Middle East.
The Prime Minister welcomed the growing presence of European companies in Iraq, emphasizing that the country is now stable and open for investment. He highlighted Iraq’s ongoing reconstruction and development efforts, particularly in the energy sector, where advanced Swiss and Swedish technologies can play a key role.
Both ambassadors reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to strengthen cooperation with Iraq and said energy companies from Switzerland and Sweden are eager to take part in upcoming national projects.
During the meeting, participants reviewed Linxon’s ongoing work in Iraq since 2018, including the maintenance of power stations in Baghdad. Prime Minister Al-Sudani directed that a roadmap be prepared to identify key projects suitable for implementation by Swiss and Swedish firms.
Linxon, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis (formerly SNC-Lavalin) and Hitachi Energy, specializes in delivering power infrastructure and grid connection solutions worldwide.
