MP Mohammed Anouz, a member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, refuted on Saturday the allegations made regarding the rise in House of Representatives members’ pay and benefits, characterizing them as media hyperbole. As per his statement,
Anouz stated, “The issue of discussing increasing the salaries and allowances of the members of the House of Representatives is not true, indicating that the salaries of the Council’s employees and representatives were reduced in 2015, but the Federal Court issued a decision to address the issue.”
He said, “The Presidency of the House of Representatives issued instructions in accordance with the internal regulations based on the Civil Service Law, not to add any new allocations or raise previous allocations.”
“Produce tangible evidence, explaining that the instructions were presented within the House of Representatives, and that the objectors were supposed to refrain from voting and not resort to the media and stir up a fuss about it,” he called on those who supported raising the pay of members of parliament.
