Minister of Oil: Fossil fuels will remain a major source of energy in the world

On Tuesday, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed that fossil fuels will remain the primary energy source worldwide.

A statement from the Ministry stated that the second ministerial session on energy, environment, and sustainable development was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani.

During the session, Abdul Ghani emphasized that fossil fuels will remain the primary source of energy worldwide. He also highlighted the importance of preserving oil as a strategic commodity for producing countries, as their economies heavily rely on oil energy sources.

He emphasized the significance of the conventional energy sector and the energy transitions in the Arab nations, which involve shifting towards renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and establishing a unified Arab marketplace for electricity and green hydrogen.

He said that the Arab nations are oil-producing and not emissions-producing and that emissions come from consumers who must work with them to develop special technologies to reduce their impact on the environment and climate.

He stated that Arab countries produce oil, but industrialized countries that use this oil must increase their equipment efficiency to benefit from this energy and reduce harmful emissions.

“We are all working towards promoting and supporting renewable and clean energy sources and projects, and our on-ground projects confirm this,” he said.
