Ahmed Salem, a Member of Parliament, said on Monday that there is strong support in parliament to pass the PMF Law. He explained that this force was created after a religious call to defend the country, and it deserves proper legal recognition for what its members have done.
He said parliament sees this law as something important and fair. It will help give justice to those who lost their lives, support their families, and take care of the wounded and fighters who served.
Salem also made it clear that the PMF is not separate from the state. It works under the command of the country’s top military leadership and is part of the official security system. According to him, putting clear laws in place will make the force stronger and more stable.
He added that the religious leadership played a key role in forming this force when the country needed it most. Now, he says, it’s the government’s responsibility to pass laws that protect its members and recognize their role properly.
