MP Nihal al-Shammari said on Saturday that employee salaries are a red line and must not be touched under any circumstances, stressing that this issue directly affects the lives of millions of Iraqis.
Speaking to the Information Agency, al-Shammari said that salaries are a constitutional right and cannot be reduced, delayed, or used as pressure in any political or government dispute. She made it clear that Parliament will firmly stand against any attempt to interfere with this right, calling salaries a key pillar for social stability.
She added that the current situation requires the incoming government and the coordinating body to act responsibly and ensure salaries continue to be paid on time and without interruption. Any delay or disruption, she warned, would have serious negative effects on both the economy and society.
Al-Shammari also stressed that Parliament sees this issue as a top priority and will keep it at the forefront of its work to protect the livelihoods of Iraqi employees.
