As part of authorities efforts to diversify Iraq’s strength mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, the national funding commission (NIC) has awarded 4 principal investment licences within the renewable electricity quarter all through 2025.
NIC Chairman Dr. Haider Mohammed Makkia [Makiyya] re-announced the licences on Wednesday, noting their alignment with Iraq’s national Renewable electricity strategy and environmental sustainability objectives.

A 1,000 MW sun power plant in Basra, offered to TotalEnergies of France;
