NIC, South Korea Discuss Investment Cooperation

The head of Iraq’s National Investment Commission, Haider Mohammed Makkiya, met with South Korean Ambassador to Iraq Lee Joon-il in Baghdad to talk about strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand investment, trade, and overall economic ties. They reviewed potential investment opportunities in key areas such as industry, housing, energy, and infrastructure. Makkiya said Iraq is eager to benefit from the advanced experience of South Korean companies, especially those involved in large and strategic projects.

The South Korean ambassador welcomed deeper economic cooperation and praised the National Investment Commission for its role in supporting investors and making procedures easier. He also confirmed that South Korean companies are interested in taking part in Iraq’s development and reconstruction efforts.

The talks reflected a shared desire to build stronger economic partnerships and open the door to more joint projects in the future.
