Banking expert Mahmoud Dagher said clearly that rumors about delaying or stopping employee salaries have no real basis. He stressed that there is no chance salaries will not be paid in Iraq and that this kind of talk is far from reality.
Dagher explained that the Central Bank of Iraq has more than enough ability to supply the Ministry of Finance with the dinars needed to pay salaries on time. He said there are solid coordination systems between the two institutions that ensure liquidity is always available, no matter the situation.
He added that paying salaries to this large number of employees is one of the government’s top priorities. According to Dagher, salaries cannot be delayed or disrupted, whether for political or economic reasons, because they directly affect social stability and the overall economy.
Dagher also warned that spreading fears about salaries only creates unnecessary worry among citizens. He called for dealing with the issue calmly and responsibly, without exaggeration. He emphasized that Iraq has the financial and monetary tools needed to make sure salaries continue to be paid regularly and without interruption.
