Oil markets fluctuated amid anticipation of a new round of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran.

Oil prices moved up and down on Tuesday but stayed below their highest levels in seven months. Traders are waiting to see what happens next in nuclear talks between the United States and Iran. At the same time, there is still uncertainty around US trade policy, which is keeping markets cautious.

Brent crude slipped 9 cents to $71.40 a barrel. A day earlier, it had climbed to $72.50 — its highest point since July 31.

US crude also edged lower, falling 11 cents to $66.20 a barrel. On Monday, it touched $67.28, the highest level since August 4.

Right now, the market is in wait-and-see mode. Investors are watching the talks with Iran closely, while also trying to figure out what direction US trade policy will take next.
