On the anniversary of the passing of the beloved of Iraq, Fayhan said: His legacy of jihad and patriotism will remain a cornerstone in building the state.

On the 17th anniversary of the passing of Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi said his legacy still matters today.

In a statement from his media office, Al-Dulaimi remembered Al-Hakim as a strong religious and national figure. He said Al-Hakim played an important role in standing up to dictatorship and helping build Iraq’s political process after years of hardship.

He described him as someone who always called for unity. Someone who believed in dialogue, understanding, and working together. He said Al-Hakim helped lay the foundations of the state and supported the idea of partnership between different groups in Iraq.

Al-Dulaimi added that remembering him is also about remembering the values he stood for — sacrifice, loyalty, and service to the country. He said Iraq still needs those values today to stay sovereign, safe, and stable, with strong institutions that respect the will of the people.

He stressed that the best way to honor Al-Hakim is to continue the national path he dedicated his life to — serving Iraq and its people.

He also offered his sincere condolences to the Al-Hakim family, their relatives, and loved ones, praying for mercy and peace for the late leader and for him to be rewarded for his service to Iraq.
