Oobit adds Phantom wallet support, connecting Solana to Visa

Oobit, a mobile payments app backed by Tether, has announced that it now supports Phantom, one of the most popular wallets in the Solana ecosystem.

This update means Phantom users can spend their Solana-based assets at more than 80 million stores worldwide that accept Visa. In simple terms, crypto can now be used for everyday purchases almost anywhere Visa is accepted.

The integration uses Oobit’s DePay feature, which allows quick, one-tap contactless payments. Users can just tap and pay straight from their Phantom wallet. There’s no middleman involved at the moment of purchase, and users keep full control of their funds until the payment is made.

There’s also no need to move money to an exchange or a custodial account. When you pay, Oobit automatically converts supported Solana tokens or stablecoins into local fiat currency. The store gets paid in cash, while the user pays in crypto.

Oobit already works with several major wallets like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and Coinbase Wallet. Adding Phantom gives Oobit access to one of the most active crypto communities, especially among Solana users.

This move follows Oobit’s global expansion late last year. The company recently launched in the United States through a partnership with Bakkt and also expanded its services in Brazil.

Overall, this integration is another step toward making crypto usable in real life, connecting blockchain wallets directly to the global payment systems people already use every day.
