Parliamentarian: Baghdad and Erbil disputes prevent the adoption of the oil and gas law

Ali Saadoun Al-Lami, a member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, stated on Tuesday that there are several unresolved and controversial issues between Baghdad, Erbil, and the oil-producing governorates, which are hindering the adoption of the oil and gas law.

Al-Lami stated that despite a movement to approve the oil and gas law, differences between the central government and the regions are currently preventing its implementation.

Passing the oil and gas law is impossible due to unresolved controversial points between Baghdad and Erbil, resulting in no signs of approval.

He said that the biggest obstacles to passing this law were the 13 points of contention between Baghdad, Erbil, and the oil-producing governorates.

Al-Lami noted that passing the law in its current form is impossible due to unresolved issues.
