Member of the Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee, Muhammad Al-Zayadi, confirmed on Wednesday that making changes to the budget numbers for the current year, 2024, will not affect the completion of service projects.
Al-Ziyadi stated in a press release that the tripartite budget, prepared by the Sudanese government and approved by the House of Representatives, has two objectives. The first is to continue providing services, completing essential service projects for all governorates, and maintaining the continuity of the government. The second objective is to send a message of reassurance that the country is stable and capable of achieving a budget for three years.
“The changes in financial amounts in the budget will not affect the completion of service projects in all governorates since the tripartite budget was created for their completion, particularly infrastructure,” he said.
Al-Ziyadi explained that changes to the current year’s budget are solely entrusted to the government. Then, the House of Representatives approves the changes based on the government’s vision.
After months of deliberations between the government and parliament members, on June 12, 2023, the House of Representatives finally approved the financial budget law for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. As a result of the increase in oil revenues, which make up 90% of the country’s revenues, the budget approved more expenditures and investments.
