Dahel Radhi, a member of the Parliamentary Energy and Electricity Committee, stated on Monday that the issue of electricity is the primary concern of the government and of the committee in particular. He also mentioned that sufficient funds have been allocated to improve the situation with electricity.
“Parliament has allocated funds to improve the situation of electricity at the level of transmission, production, and distribution, in addition to importing gas,” Radhi stated in a statement to dinaropinions.com.
He went on to say, “Noting that there are external contracts and future plans to eliminate the burned gas and benefit from it in operating the stations, Iraq is still importing large quantities of gas to operate power stations that depend on gas.”
“The government is moving toward building new gas stations and putting them into service in order to meet Iraq’s need for electricity,” he explained.
