Presence expects a conflict to erupt between the Union and the Democratic after the upcoming regional elections

Muhammad Abu Sa’ida, the Wojood Movement’s leader, anticipated a significant conflict between the Patriotic Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party following the region’s elections.

“The Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani, controls the reins of power in the Kurdistan Region, and it is clinging to this power, and it cannot easily hand it over to the Union in the upcoming elections,” Abu Saeeda stated in the statement.

He went on to say, “From 1991 to 1996, the region saw back-and-forth operations and tensions between the two parties, and this conflict caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people from Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.” They would not have reached an agreement to establish the Kurdistan Region if it weren’t for international efforts in the 1990s.”

“The coming short period will witness a major conflict between the two parties,” he said, “especially since the union seeks to take power and is moving in this direction to obtain the largest number of seats in the regional parliament, and the Democratic Party stands against this matter despite the decline in its chances in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja.” He added that “the coming short period will witness a major conflict between the two parties.”
