Kurdish President Nechirvan Barzani met Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katherina Reiche, on Saturday to talk about boosting economic ties and bringing more German investment to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting took place on the third day of the Munich Security Conference. Barzani thanked Berlin for its continued support to both Baghdad and Erbil. He said the Kurdistan Region is eager to benefit from German experience, especially in energy and economic development.
Barzani arrived in Germany on Thursday to take part in the annual conference. While there, he is holding meetings with international leaders to discuss Iraq’s political future and broader developments across the region.
