On Thursday in Baghdad Palace, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares led a team led by Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid.
Fuad Hussein, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, was also present during the meeting.
President Rashid stressed the need of cooperating to improve ties between Iraq and Spain. He applauded Spain for joining the international alliance in Iraq’s battle against Daesh. According to President Rashid, Iraq wants to strengthen its diplomatic and business ties with Spain in the areas of renewable energy, tourism, industry, and archaeology.
According to a statement from the president’s office, Iraq needs to benefit from Spain’s tourist and archeological experiences. The president also invited Spanish businesspeople and firms to look into chances to work and invest in Iraq.
It further stated that Minister Albares emphasized how eager Spanish businesses are to participate in the rehabilitation effort.
