On December 26, 2025, Iraq’s Ministry of Finance announced the completion of a full electronic link between its Accounting and Budget Departments.
The ministry said this move is part of its push for digital transformation and automating government procedures, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
“This achievement is the result of close cooperation between the computer teams in both departments, along with support from the IT Department,” the ministry explained. “It has allowed the launch of a unified electronic system that immediately and accurately tracks all financial transfers, additions, and deductions. This shows our commitment to transparency and efficiency.”
Officials noted that the new system will speed up decision-making, improve accuracy, and reduce paper-based work. “It eliminates manual effort, reduces human errors, and ensures financial data is reliable,” the ministry said. “It also strengthens control procedures and boosts overall financial performance, which supports good governance.”
