The Ministry of Finance denies any shortage in funding for the salaries of Kurdistan employees for January.

The Ministry of Finance has denied claims that there is a shortage in funding for the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan Region. The ministry said the salaries for January were funded according to the approved disbursement circular (1/12) and within the legal framework in place.

In a statement, the ministry responded to remarks from the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance and Economy, which had said there was a shortfall in salary funding for January. The federal ministry stressed that the money was released based on the legal and financial rules followed across Iraq. It explained that payments were made in line with circular (1/12), which allows funds to be sent to employees and retirees who are officially registered and listed in the ministry’s approved records.

The ministry also made it clear that any extra payments or financial differences related to previous months cannot be covered under the current payment system. According to the statement, such payments need legal approval and specific budget allocations. These issues, it said, will be addressed properly when the 2026 budget tables are prepared.

The Ministry of Finance reaffirmed that the federal government is committed to paying salaries to all eligible employees across the country. It added that respecting the constitution and the law means presenting facts accurately and avoiding statements that could inflame tensions or create confusion.

Finally, the ministry said its teams are working professionally to ensure that funds are delivered on time and strictly within the available legal framework.
