The Ministry of Transport says work is moving quickly on the detailed designs for Iraq’s major Development Road project. This project is a key part of the government’s plan to improve infrastructure and turn Iraq into an important regional transport and trade hub.
Maitham Al-Safi, head of the ministry’s media office, explained that progress has reached about 87% for the railway designs and 73% for the land transport route. He said the current work is focused on finalizing route paths and station locations, while making sure everything fits future operating needs.
Al-Safi added that the designs also take into account environmental, economic, and security factors, so the project can run smoothly and safely once it begins.
He confirmed that the ministry is sticking to its planned schedule and is preparing to move into the construction phase as soon as all technical and administrative steps are completed.
