The Oil and Gas Committee notes observations on the ministry's performance and calls for a comprehensive review.

Nazim Al-Shabli, a member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, confirmed on Tuesday that the committee has recorded several observations regarding the performance of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil. The aim is to review policies and procedures to support the development of the oil sector and improve operational efficiency.

Al-Shabli told dinaropinions.com that:

“The parliamentary committee is closely monitoring the Ministry of Oil and has identified a number of points requiring technical and administrative attention.”

He explained that these observations are part of the committee’s efforts to enhance performance and address ongoing challenges within the sector.

“While the ministry is making significant efforts in managing oil resources, certain files still require government intervention to accelerate progress and achieve strategic goals,” Al-Shabli added.

He also called for the formation of joint working groups involving relevant stakeholders to review current plans and deliver practical, actionable recommendations.

The review underscores the Parliament’s commitment to ensuring that Iraq’s oil sector operates efficiently and aligns with long-term strategic objectives.
