Iraq’s imports have crossed a major level this year.
According to a report released on Saturday, Iraq imported more than $63 billion worth of goods by the end of September 2025. The figures cover the first nine months of the year, from January through September.
The report explains that total imports reached $63.093 billion, including both government and private sector purchases.
Government imports made up a smaller portion of that total, coming in at $5.35 billion. These included consumer goods, capital equipment, petroleum products, and other items needed for state operations.
The private sector accounted for the bulk of the imports. Private companies imported about $57.743 billion worth of goods, mainly consumer products and capital goods used for business and investment.
Overall, the numbers highlight how heavily Iraq continues to rely on imports, with the private sector playing the biggest role in bringing goods into the country.
