Washington – Social media platform X announced Tuesday a 90-day suspension from its revenue-sharing program for creators who post AI-generated videos of armed conflicts without clearly disclosing their artificial origin. The policy aims to protect information authenticity amid the ongoing U.S.-Israel military actions against Iran.

Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, emphasized the importance of authentic reporting during wartime, noting that AI makes it “trivial to create content that can mislead people.” Repeat offenders risk permanent removal from the program, which shares advertising revenue with eligible users.

Violations will be identified through X’s Community Notes fact-checking system, metadata, and technical markers embedded in AI-generated videos. The move marks a shift for the Elon Musk-owned platform, which previously relaxed misinformation policies after Musk’s $44 billion acquisition in October 2022. X stated it will continue refining its rules to maintain trust during critical global events.
