Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi held separate meetings in New York with representatives from U.S. oil companies HKN Energy and ExxonMobil to discuss investment opportunities and the future development of Iraq’s energy sector.
During his meeting with HKN Energy, Al-Zaidi called on the company to speed up its work in Iraq and increase activity on its projects and contractual commitments, including efforts aimed at boosting oil production.
The HKN Energy delegation was led by Chairman Ross Perot. During the discussions, the prime minister also highlighted plans for a future Baghdad Energy Conference, where new exploration blocks are expected to be announced. He described these opportunities as important investments for international energy companies and said the government is committed to removing obstacles that could slow project progress.
In a separate meeting with ExxonMobil, Al-Zaidi discussed ways to expand cooperation in oil exploration and field development projects.
ExxonMobil’s delegation was headed by Chief Executive Officer Darren Woods. The prime minister emphasized the value of working with major international energy companies and using their expertise and advanced technology to help develop Iraq’s oil industry.
He said strengthening partnerships with global companies is an important part of Iraq’s strategy to increase production capacity and support the long-term growth of the country’s energy sector.
