A Swiss company, Main Power Engineering, has held talks with Iraq’s National Investment Commission (NIC) about building an integrated industrial complex to manufacture advanced electrical equipment in Iraq.
The meeting was chaired by NIC Chairman Adel Dakhil Muhammad al-Yasiri and focused on the strategic and financial aspects of the proposed project.
According to the NIC, the planned facility would handle the complete process of designing, manufacturing, and testing a range of electrical products. These include oil-immersed high-voltage transformers, dry-type industrial transformers, semiconductor components, and electrical switching systems.
The project also includes plans for a specialized high-voltage testing center that would certify both locally manufactured equipment and imported electrical products.
Officials said the project aims to strengthen Iraq’s industrial capabilities in the electrical sector and support the growing demand for advanced power infrastructure.
The meeting was also attended by the directors-general of the NIC’s Relations and Media Department and the Economic and Technical Department, who reviewed the proposal alongside company representatives.
