The present government’s policy gives precedence to initiatives related to the oil sector, as revealed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani on Monday.
In a statement obtained by, Al-Sudani’s office said that “the Prime Minister chaired the regular meeting to follow up on the progress of implementation of the Ministry of Oil’s projects and the Ministry’s plans for developing and expanding the oil sector in Iraq.”
The discussion included “a review of the plans drawn up by the Ministry, and a review of what has been implemented, especially those related to the production, transportation and distribution sectors, as well as the production of derivatives and plans to reach self-sufficiency and meet national consumption thereof during this year.”
In addition, Al-Sudani emphasized that “government officials need to focus on how they achieve achievements, especially those that meet the aspirations of citizens.” “Government attention is focused on the oil sector as it still represents the backbone of the national economy, and accelerating its development will reflect positively at the national level,” Al-Sudani said. In addition to plans pertaining to integrated oil projects, the Prime Minister was updated on “the latest developments in investment efforts in associated gas, and the date of announcing the supplement to the fifth licensing round and the sixth round.”
