Deputy: There is no seriousness to solve the salary crisis for the region’s employees

On Tuesday, former member of parliament Ghaleb Muhammad Ali denounced the inaction of the responsible authorities in delivering the paychecks of workers in the Kurdistan region. He said that there is no real commitment to finding a solution or guaranteeing that salaries be paid on schedule.

“Kurdistan Region employees’ salaries need to be directly linked to Baghdad immediately because there has been a delay in paying their dues, which has led to their staging demonstrations in Sulaymaniyah,” Ali stated.

He said, “The government does not have the seriousness to solve the problem of distributing salaries on time, which caused a delay of months in their delivery, in addition to the fact that the amounts sent from Baghdad to the region do not meet the need and do not cover all employees’ salaries.”

He said that “Baghdad sends sums to Erbil on a monthly basis, but this matter is a temporary solution that cannot be continued, and requires resolving the issue by the federal government to ensure that salaries are delivered to employees on time without delay, while linking them directly to the capital.”
