Haider Al-Lami, a member of the State of Law coalition, predicted that today, Thursday, the House of Representatives’ session to elect the president will be more chaotic than the previous one due to the parties’ lack of agreement and divisions.
Al-Lami said in a proclamation to the , “The mediation of the Shiite gatherings to determine the issue finished because of the allegations being tossed and being viewed as the one blocking the choice of the position,” noticing that “the following meeting, regardless of whether it happens after the regulative break, will be more tumultuous than the one that went before it.”
He proceeded, “The heads of the Sunni part have no genuine development to settle on a settlement competitor, and the new meeting is of no utilization,” bringing up that “the new rebellions and the withdrawal of 11 representatives have made the matter more muddled.”
It is noteworthy that more than eight months have passed since Al-Halbousi was fired from the House of Representatives and that the Sunni blocs have not agreed on a single person to run the House. This makes it difficult for Parliament to work on legislation and fulfill its oversight responsibilities.
