China, Siemens in Baiji Power Plant Rehabilitation

The Iraqi government has endorsed the proposal from the Ecclesiastical Board for Energy (24067 T) of 2024 to consent to a three sided arrangement including the Service of Power, Siemens Energy, and the China State Development Designing Enterprise (CSCEC).

The understanding spotlights on the restoration of the Baiji Internal combustion Plant (Unit 2), assigning CSCES as the principal worker for hire and Siemens as the auxiliary project worker. The understanding diagrams the accompanying responsibilities:

Service of Power: accountable for acquiring the necessary approvals from the government.

CSCES: serves as the project’s main contractor, providing and putting in auxiliary equipment (BOP), such as fuel systems, fire protection, treatment systems, compressors, piping, valves, and civil works, as well as financing the project.

Siemens: serves as the secondary contractor, supplying gas turbines, electric generators, main transformers, substations, and control centers to ensure that the project is carried out in accordance with global Siemens standards.

The agreement also takes into account the possibility of converting the project within the investment account under the Chinese Export Credit Agency.
