CBI signs Agreement on Electronic Payments

Under the patronage of Mr. Ali Mohsen Al-Allaq, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), the bank signed a new cooperation agreement with the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), Bahrain Branch. The signing took place at the CBI headquarters in Baghdad.

The event was attended by Mr. Ali Ferdan, Chief Executive Officer of NBK-Bahrain, along with Deputy Head of Treasury Mr. Mohammed Mumin and other members of the visiting delegation. Representing the CBI, Dr. Mohammed Younis Abu Raghif, Director General of Investments, signed the agreement.

Governor Al-Allaq welcomed the Kuwaiti and Bahraini delegation, noting the strong and historic relations between Iraq, Kuwait, and Bahrain. He praised the shared commitment to enhancing regional financial cooperation and promoting economic stability.

Mr. Ferdan reaffirmed NBK’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the Central Bank of Iraq, especially in key areas like financial transfers, electronic payments, staff training, and data exchange. He emphasized that the agreement marks a new step toward closer cooperation and modernization in Iraq’s banking sector.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Ferdan invited Governor Al-Allaq to visit NBK’s headquarters in Bahrain, underscoring the bank’s commitment to continued collaboration and knowledge sharing.
