Dollar opens lower in Baghdad, higher in Kurdistan markets

On Saturday, the US dollar opened weaker in Baghdad but edged up slightly in the Kurdistan Region, according to a Shafaq News market survey.

In Baghdad, the dollar opened at 144,500 dinars per 100 dollars, down 500 dinars from Friday’s close of 145,000 dinars at the Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya exchanges. Local exchange shops were selling the dollar at 145,000 dinars and buying at 144,000 dinars.

Meanwhile, in Erbil, the dollar saw a small uptick, with selling prices at 143,400 dinars per 100 dollars and buying prices at 143,250 dinars. That’s a slight increase from the last session, when the selling price was 143,350 dinars and the buying price remained the same at 143,250 dinars.

Overall, the currency markets in Iraq started the weekend with minor fluctuations, reflecting steady demand in Baghdad and a modest rise in Erbil.
