The Prime Minister’s Office gave an urgent order on Thursday to the Central Bank of Iraq.
The message was clear: stop taking loan payments from the salaries and pensions of employees and retirees for the month of February.
This decision applies to loans from both government and private banks.
The move comes as Ramadan begins. The goal is simple — to give people some breathing room during the holy month. With extra expenses during this time, the government wants families to have more money in their hands instead of seeing it deducted automatically.
