A leader within the coordination framework denies that Maliki has withdrawn his candidacy for the next prime ministership.

On Wednesday, Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, denied reports claiming that Nouri al-Maliki, leader of the State of Law Coalition, had withdrawn his candidacy for the premiership.

Abdul-Hadi told local media that the circulating reports suggesting al-Maliki stepped down — despite being nominated by the largest bloc in parliament — are inaccurate and amount to “baseless speculation and leaks.”

He stressed that the Coordination Framework remains firm in its position regarding al-Maliki’s nomination, adding that any changes would be announced only through official statements. “The Framework does not rely on leaks or assumptions in crucial matters,” he said.

Abdul-Hadi further explained that the most recent Coordination Framework meeting focused on regional developments, particularly the security repercussions following the attack on Tehran and the potential impact on Baghdad. He confirmed that reconsidering the prime ministerial nominee was not discussed, contrary to claims published by some websites.
