Al Karawi Membership in 12 parliamentary committees has been decided, and the chairmanship of committees has been postponed pending political agreements.

MP Mudhar al-Karawi said on Thursday that the Iraqi Parliament has chosen members for 12 out of 22 parliamentary committees so far. The decisions about who will lead these committees will come later.

Al-Karawi told dinaropinions.com, “So far, we’ve finalized the members for 12 committees. The rest will be decided in the coming sessions.”

He added that the committee chairmanships will be decided later, either through political agreements or after the new government is formed. This means the matter is being postponed until political understandings are reached and the election process for committee leaders is clear.

Al-Karawi said that once all 22 committees are formed, they will start their work on oversight and legislation. “There are many issues that need immediate attention, especially economic, financial, and security matters,” he said.

He also emphasized that “the country is facing exceptional challenges that require close coordination between Parliament and the government to find real solutions.”
