The Badr Bloc calls for a review of the security agreement and an end to American control over Iraqi airspace.

The spokesperson for the Badr parliamentary bloc, Hamid al-Moussawi, called on Tuesday for a full and immediate review of the security agreement signed with United States. He said repeated violations by the U.S. have left the agreement empty and turned it into a tool that undermines Iraq’s sovereignty.

Al-Moussawi told dinaropinions.com, “The current stage requires a strong stance from both the government and parliament to rethink this agreement. So far, it has only led to violations and attacks targeting our security leaders and headquarters.” He added that “the United States is taking advantage of loopholes in the deal to push its political and military agenda.”

He also warned that “the ongoing presence of U.S. forces under this agreement has become a burden on the state and a threat to our security and stability.” He emphasized that the Badr bloc is calling for the full expulsion of foreign forces and for Iraqi airspace to be fully protected from any foreign aggression.

Al-Moussawi stressed that the review must include clear steps to end the U.S. monopoly over Iraq’s security decisions and prevent Iraqi land and airspace from being used for attacks on neighboring countries or settling scores. He concluded, “Sovereignty is indivisible. Agreements that stay only on paper while Iraqis are killed are unacceptable.”
