Mudhar al-Karawi said on Monday that oil and gas projects in Diyala are still moving forward and have not been stopped.
He pushed back against rumors that the war had forced these projects to pause, saying that’s simply not true.
According to him, work is continuing as planned at key sites like the Mansouriya gas field and the Naft Khana oil field. These projects are being carried out by international companies in coordination with Iraq’s oil ministry.
He said he personally checked with officials and confirmed that everything is still on track.
Al-Karawi also shared some positive news. He said the Mansouriya field could reach a major milestone soon, possibly completing its first phase in the coming months. That would allow it to start supplying large amounts of gas.
As for the Naft Khana field, he said development work is continuing as planned, and there could be noticeable progress by the end of 2026.
