The electricity system has stabilized and gas supplies have increased to 18 million cubic meters per day.

Ahmed Al-Abadi, spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, said on Tuesday that the ministry is working around the clock to keep the power system running smoothly.

He explained that there’s a constant operations room in place, with close government monitoring and direct supervision from the Energy Minister, Hayyan Abdul Ghani. The team is keeping a close eye on power plants, transmission lines, and distribution networks, while also making sure fuel and gas supplies are secured so electricity production doesn’t slow down.

Al-Abadi said the national grid is currently stable, with good production levels and steady supply. He added that the ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Oil to make the most of local fuel and gas to support electricity stations.

He also shared that the system is running better now after completing a big part of maintenance and repair work on power units, especially as the country prepares for higher demand in the summer. Imported gas supplies have also started to improve, increasing from 5 million to 18 million cubic meters per day. This has helped restore fuel to stations that were struggling in recent days.

In the end, Al-Abadi said the ministry understands its responsibility to the public and is pushing ahead with its summer readiness plans. He added that work is ongoing with international companies to strengthen and improve the overall power system.
