Iraq has completed a successful test run of a new freight route linking Turkey, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia under the TIR system.

The journey started at the Ibrahim Al-Khalil border crossing and ended at the Arar crossing. According to officials, the trip was completed on time and without any problems.

What makes this route important is how smooth it is. Trucks can now move directly between the three countries without unloading and reloading cargo at borders. Turkish drivers are also allowed to travel with their shipments, making the process faster and simpler.

There has also been better coordination between Iraqi and Saudi authorities, which helped the trial run go smoothly.

Officials say this new corridor could cut down delivery times and reduce transport costs. It also improves how goods move across the region.

More importantly, it strengthens Iraq’s role as a key land bridge connecting Asia, Europe, and the Gulf. That could boost trade and make the country more important in regional supply chains.

The project was developed with support from international transport groups and follows global standards under the TIR system.

After this successful test, officials say the next step could be expanding the route with more shipments and possibly adding more countries in the future.

In simple terms, this is a big step toward turning Iraq into a major transit hub for trade.
