Police in Zanzibar are still investigating the death of a woman linked to a well-known crypto figure, and the situation is far from clear.
Authorities are questioning Joe McCann after his fiancée, Ashly Robinson, died during their vacation. She was found unresponsive in a hotel room and later passed away in the hospital on April 9.
Police have so far described the case as a suspected suicide. According to initial reports, hotel staff found her with a belt around her neck and quickly alerted management before she was taken for medical care.
But that’s only one side of the story.
Robinson’s family is strongly pushing back, saying the explanation doesn’t make sense. They point to the fact that she had just celebrated her birthday and recently got engaged — and say nothing about her behavior suggested something was wrong.
Meanwhile, McCann remains in Zanzibar, unable to leave. Police have held onto his passport while the investigation continues, which is standard in cases like this while authorities wait for an autopsy and more evidence.
There are also reports that the couple had an argument before the incident and were staying in separate rooms, but details are still limited and not fully confirmed.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and officials are treating the case as ongoing.
Until the autopsy results come in, key questions remain unanswered — and both the official narrative and the family’s concerns are still on the table.
