Ghiyath Al-Surji, a member of the advanced cadre of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, has confirmed that both Baghdad and Erbil lack the real intent to resolve the issue of oil and gas, as well as the problem of distribution of wealth between the two sides.

In a conversation with Al-Maalouma, Al-Sourji stated that Baghdad and the surrounding regions lack the seriousness to resolve the issues related to the oil file, especially the ones concerning the oil and gas law. Al-Sourji believes that the differences could have been avoided if there was a clause in the constitution that defines the relationship between the two parties regarding this wealth.
“This is a rewrite: The National Union has 18 representatives in Parliament. They are urging everyone to legislate the oil and gas law to resolve the current crises and disputes over the distribution of wealth between Baghdad and Erbil,” he added.
In a recent statement, he emphasized the urgent need to accelerate the resolution of the oil and gas law between Baghdad and Erbil. He urged the Parliament to pass the law with everyone’s approval to put an end to differences and prevent tensions from arising over this matter. The statement was issued on the 25th.
