Ali Al-Muayyad, the head of the Communications and Media Commission, met with a high-level team of World Bank specialists to discuss Iraq’s communications and information technology strategy, as well as the bank’s help in this area.
According to the report, the conference, “which came on the sidelines of the 2024 World Bank Digital Summit in Washington, discussed the efforts made by Iraq to accelerate the pace of digital transformation and spread digitization in various government departments.”
The panel also examined the initiatives and programs that Iraq is doing as part of its digital strategy, such as constructing infrastructure and enacting legislation to promote digital transformation.
The meeting, which also discussed ways for the World Bank to help Iraq develop its communications strategy, was attended by Michel Rouji, Director of Digital Development at the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, and Abdullah Jabour and Issam Khayyat, digital development experts.
It is worth noting that the Bank’s Digital Summit International 2024, held in Washington, brings together senior officials and ministers from governments and the private sector with the goal of exploring opportunities, accelerating the pace of digital transformation, reviewing the reality of development in countries around the world, and revealing the latest technologies and scientific visions in the fields of innovation, communication, and digital transformation.
