The President of the Republic: Iraq wants to establish good relations with America

The President of the Iraqi Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed his country’s wish to create “good” ties with America, not just in military concerns, but also in other areas.

Rashid stated in an interview with the English “Sky News” channel that “Iraq wants to establish good relations with the United States, not only in military matters, but also in economic, commercial, political, diplomatic, scientific, and cultural aspects.”

He went on to say, “The Iraqi government is working on understandings regarding the presence of international coalition forces in the country, and setting a timetable for their stay, missions, and date of departure.”

Mr. Rashid went on to remark, “The security stability that Iraq enjoys now is important, and the situation today is better than it was in past years,” and added that “the Presidency of the Republic, the government, and the House of Representatives are working greatly to consolidate this stability.”
