At the North Refinery’s launch in Baiji, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said that petroleum derivative imports will cease in 2025.
“This achievement and the previous achievements aim to complete the country’s needs for oil derivatives, the most recent of which was the opening of the Karbala refinery and another in Basra,” Al-Sudani said in a speech during the opening ceremony.
“Today is a great accomplishment as we move closer to declaring Iraq soon, God willing. After the remaining projects are completed by the middle of 2025, God willing, the heroes will surprise us with an earlier date to announce the end of the import of oil derivatives and transfer this enormous sum of money, billions of dollars, into Other aspects,” he continued. He went on, “National effort also went into achieving the flip side of this accomplishment.
