Al-Sudani rejects targeting foreign forces in Iraq and directs to take measures

On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, announced that he does not support targeting foreign forces in Iraq. Instead, he directed the security services to carry out their duties, implement the law, and track down the individuals responsible for attacks.

In a statement obtained by Major General Yahya Rasoul, the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stated that the Iraqi government has repeatedly condemned Zionist aggression against Gaza Strip residents and called for an end to the terrible conditions that their Palestinian counterparts are facing as a result of that aggression. This stands for the unwavering, moral stance toward the Palestinian people’s fight. We also reaffirm our opposition to the attacks directed at Iraqi bases, which include the headquarters of the foreign coalition advisors stationed there at the government’s formal invitation. These advisors continue to provide training, qualification, and consultation support to our security forces. As per the explicit protocol devised by Iraqi officials and diplomatic channels, the security and safety of these offices are inviolable.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has directed all security services to carry out their duties and implement the law. They have also been instructed to track and trace those responsible for the recent attacks and under no circumstances allow any harm to the security and stability that have been achieved thanks to the great sacrifices of members from various branches and formations of our armed forces.

The Ain al-Assad and Harir military bases in Iraq were targeted by armed factions calling themselves the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” using drones on multiple occasions.
