“Controversial points” between Baghdad and the region delay the approval of the oil and gas law

Ali Abdul Sattar Al-Marshoud, a member of the Oil and Gas Committee, has stated that the committee has not received the oil and gas law yet, due to unresolved controversial issues between Baghdad and Erbil. The approval of the law is dependent on resolving these controversial points.

Al-Marshoud stated that the referral of the law to the Oil and Gas Committee was delayed due to points of disagreement between the regional and federal government. He further mentioned that the central government is unwilling to alter the paragraphs that the regional government is required to amend, which goes against the spirit of the law.

He further emphasized that the law will be approved during the current session once all the contentious issues have been resolved.
